Alejandro and the UCI

Just a couple of comments on the links I posted earlier today with the news that Alejandro Valverde’s appeal had been denied by the CAS and that Alejandro has said that he will continue to fight these charges.

It has finally been said that there was evidence of EPO use in tests done on a blood bag matched with Alejandro’s DNA, almost 4 years after Operation Puerto here in Spain. Why has the investigation been blocked by a Spanish judge? Why hasn’t the UCI done something before now? Now that the ban has been upheld, what happens to Alejandro’s win in the Vuelta a España last year? The problem cannot be solved if corrective actions take such a long time.
Finally, Alejandro, it’s time to stand up and accept the consequences of your actions before you do any more damage to the sport.

Sólo unos comentarios sobre los links que he posteado hoy con la noticia de que el CAS ha denegado el recurso de apelación de Alejandro Valverde y que Alejandro ha dicho que continuará en la lucha contra estos cargos.
Se ha dicho finalmente que hay pruebas de uso de EPO en los análisis realizados a una bolsa de sangre que correspondía con el DNA de Alejandro, perteneciente a la Operación Puerto aquí en España, hace casi cuatro años ya. ¿Por qué un juez Español ha bloqueado la investigación? ¿Por qué la UCI no ha hecho algo antes que ahora? Ahora que la prohibición se ha confirmado, ¿qué sucede con la victoria de Alejandro en la Vuelta a España el año pasado? El problema no puede resolverse si las acciones correctivas tardan tanto tiempo.
Por último, Alejandro, es tiempo de dar la cara y aceptar las consecuencias de tus acciones antes de hacer más daño al deporte.
