Back to the mountains
I started my ride in Lozoya today and headed for Rascafria to climb Puerto de Cotos, on a reasonably cool morning. A nicely shaded climb which begins very easy and becomes more difficult for the last 7 kilometers, but has the benefit of having very little traffic.
After climbing Cotos I continued on to Navacerrada and descended to San Ildelfonso, later passing through Torrecaballeros on my way to climb Navafria and return to Lozoya.
Navafria is another climb which is relatively easy at the beginning but becomes more difficult in the last 3 kilometers. The climb from Navafria is also well shaded and has much less traffic than the Lozoya face. This ride totals 102.6 kilometers and 2400 meters of climbing. Some caution is a good idea on the descent to Lozoya as there are some very sharp curves.
