Sept 2nd Ride in Cantabria
I started my ride this morning in Cabezon de la Sal and headed off in the direction of Fresneda to climb the Puerto de Palombera with nice cool temperatures and sunny skies. As you can see from the profile of the climb this is a long but steady climb with no difficult ramps. There is some traffic between Cabezon de la Sal and Valle de Cabuérniga on the CA-180, but after it becomes the CA-280 there is virtually none. For the last 3.5 kilometers of the climb this morning it was a little windy and since it is more exposed, sometimes you are riding into the wind, but it's not for long. As I said before, there is very little traffic so the descent is quite fast, but as you will see in the video I post next week you need to be careful of the animals on the road. Once you reach Cabezon de la Sal again there are just a few short climbs on the way to San Vicente de la Barquera. A good ride of 98 kilometers with 2044 meters of climbing.
