The Astana chronicles

In December, 2009 we learned that blood doping equipment had been found in the wastebaskets of the rooms which Astana used during the Tour de France in 2009. I have to wonder if these things were found in July 2009, during the Tour, or if they were found in December when the rooms in the French hotel were finally cleaned. If the rooms were cleaned in December, did anyone else stay in the room? Astana, of course, denied any wrongdoing. Then again, so did Ian Millar until they found drugs in his house and Floyd Landis denied using testosterone the night before his amazing comeback in the Tour. Obviously, one of the necessary requirements in becoming a member of a professional cycling team is stupidity or that is what we are being led to believe.
Now, 2 months later there is no published evidence of any doping on the part of Astana, so the UCI have decided to punish the team in another way, by banning Alberto Contador’s time trial bike 2 days before the final time trial of the Volta ao Algarve. If you look at the three pictures I have posted, the 3 bikes are very similar, but the front part of the steerer tube of the fork on the Specialized bike is removable, therefore it is only for aerodynamic effect and it is illegal. On the other two bikes it is an integral part of the fork, therefore it is not for aerodynamic effect and is legal. If anyone truly understands that, please explain it. This, of course, is sure to affect the outcome of this race and therefore I predict that Levi Leipheimer will come back from his 28 second disadvantage in Sunday’s time trial beating Alberto contador by 28.213 seconds. This, of course, after removing Alberto’s TT bike, which would have given him an advantage of .315 seconds over the rest of the competitors in the 17.2 kilometer time trial

En diciembre 2009, se ha sabido que se había encontrado equipamiento de doping sanguíneo en las papeleras de las habitaciones que Astana usó durante el Tour de Francia en 2009. Tengo que preguntarme si estas cosas fueron encontradas en Julio del 2009, durante el Tour, o si se encontraron en diciembre cuando las habitaciones del hotel fueron finalmente limpiadas. Si las habitaciones se limpiaron en diciembre ¿No hubo mas personas en esa habitación? Astana, por supuesto, niega cualquier ilegalidad. Otra vez, como hizo Ian Millar hasta que encontraron drogas en su casa y Floyd Landis que negó usar testosterona la noche anterior a su impresionante vuelta al Tour. Obviamente, uno de los requerimientos necesarios para convertirse en miembro de un equipo ciclista profesional es la estupidez o eso es lo que nos quieren hacer creer.
Ahora, dos meses después no hay ninguna evidencia publicada de ningún doping por parte de Astana, así que la UCI ha decidido castigar al equipo de otra forma, prohibiendo la bicicleta de contra reloj de Alberto Contador dos días antes de la final de contra reloj de la Vuelta al Algarve. Si miras las tres fotos que he puesto, las tres bicicletas son muy similares, pero la parte frontal de la horquilla en la bicicleta Specialized es desmontable, por lo que su función es solo el efecto aerodinámico y es ilegal. En las otras dos bicicletas esta parte esta integrada en la horquilla, por lo que su función no es su efecto aerodinámico y es legal. Si alguien de verdad entiende esto, por favor que me lo explique. Esto, por supuesto, es seguro que afectará el resultado de la carrera y entonces predigo que Levi Leipheimer pasará de sus 28 segundos de desventaja en la contra reloj del domingo, a ganar a Alberto Contador por 28,213 segundos.
