A new low

Cycling, as a sport, is becoming more absurd every day. This opinion is based on the two news articles I just posted to my blog.

The first one states that an international arrest warrant has been issued for Floyd Landis by a French judge, because he is now, apparently a testosterone using, cycling computer hacker who hacked his way into the computers in the French drug testing laboratory AFLD. I have to ask the question, “If a person is trying to prove their innocence in regards to a positive drug test, would they really hack their way into the lab’s computers?” If Floyd can do this or if he is rich enough to pay someone to do it, would he really have become a professional cyclist? If the French don’t want him to ride in the Tour again, why don’t they just ban all riders who test positive for life?
The second article I posted talks about Ricardo Ricco who tested positive for EPO-CERA in the Tour, was suspended for 20 months and whose girlfriend Vania Rossi has now tested positive for the same. Rossi says that she has not taken anything and would not even think of it now as she is breastfeeding her baby. Ricco has suddenly been afflicted with a severe case of morals or fear of the possible repercussions against him and therefore has decided to leave his girlfriend and their new baby instead of giving her the support she needs right now. “If you were in my shoes, what would you do?” said Ricco. “It was my fault I ended up in this black hole initially, but, with enormous sacrifices, I am coming out of it. Vania’s positive threw dirt in my face and left me back in a hole. I understand that it is a crucial moment for her, but it’s not right that I pay again.” Obviously Ricardo’s sacrifices don’t include acting like a caring human being.
The sport has a lot of problems to deal with and correct before it can become credible again, but with these kinds of things in the news day after day that will never happen.

El ciclismo, como deporte, se esta volviendo mas absurdo cada día. Esta opinión la baso es dos noticias que acabo de poner en mi blog.
La primera dice que hay una orden internacional busca y captura para Floyd Landis emitida por un juez francés, porque él es ahora, aparentemente, un consumidor de testosterona y un pirata informático del ciclismo que ha entrado en los ordenadores del laboratorio de análisis francés AFLD. Tengo que hacer esta pregunta, “¿Si una persona esta tratando de probar su inocencia en relación con el test positivo de alguna droga, entrarían ilegalmente en los ordenadores del laboratorio? Si Floyd puede hacer esto o es lo suficientemente rico para pagar a alguien que lo haga ¿Se hubiera convertido en un ciclista profesional? Si los franceses no quieren que él lidere el Tour otra vez, ¿por qué no sancionan a todos los corredores que han dado positivo de por vida?
El segundo artículo que he puesto habla de Ricardo Ricco que dio positivo por EPO-CERA en el Tour, fue suspendido por 20 meses y que ahora su novia, Vania Rossi ha dado positivo por lo mismo. Rossi dice que ella no ha tomado nada y que ni pensaría en ello ahora, ya que esta dando de mamar a su hijo. Ricco, de repente, se ha vuelto moral o le ha dado miedo las posibles repercusiones contra él, y por ello ha decidido dejar a su novia y a su hijo, en lugar de darle el apoyo que necesita ahora. “Si estuvieras en mi pellejo ¿qué harías? – ha dicho Ricco. “Inicialmente ha sido mi culpa terminar así en este agujero negro, pero, con enormes sacrificios estoy saliendo de esta. El positivo de Vania esta ensuciando mi carrera y dejándome en un agujero. Entiendo que es un momento crucial para ella, pero no es justo que yo pague otra vez”. Obviamente los sacrificios de Ricardo no incluyen actuar como un ser humano sensible. Este deporte tiene un montón de problemas para trabajar y corregir antes de pueda volver a ser respetable otra vez, pero con este tipo de cosas en las noticias día tras día, nunca va a ocurrir.
