Cycling is Life

At the beginning of the day there was fog in Allariz, lots of humidity, but not at all cold. As the first hour is practically all downhill, the day started very well with an average speed in the first hour of 36 kms per hour. Then the climbing starts and it becomes slower, the climb to Alto do Paraño being quite long and slow, before another rapid descent. Another shorter climb through Forcarei with a very nice descent all the way to Pontevedra, before the deceptively difficult climb just before Santiago, which was complicated by the closure of the highway for construction. However, as bicycles are prohibited on the other highway there was no choice but to continue over the new pavement which increased the heat on an already hot day. As Santiago is full of traffic, I did not bother with the 2 laps through the streets and finished with 131.04 kms in 5:15:11.

Al principio del día había niebla en Allariz , mucha humedad, pero nada de frio. Como la primera hora es prácticamente todo bajada, el día comenzó muy bien con una velocidad media de 36 Km/h. Luego empezó la subida y se enlenteció, la subida al Alto do Paraño , bastante larga y lenta, antes de otro descenso rápido. Otra subida más corta hasta Forcarei con un descenso muy bonito todo el camino hasta Pontevedra , antes de la decepcionantemente difícil subida justo antes de Santiago, que estaba dificultada por el cierre de la carretera por obras. Sin embargo, como las bicicletas están prohibidas en las autopistas, no había otra alternativa más que continuar sobre el asfalto recién puesto que aumentaba el calor en un ya muy caluroso día. Como Santiago tiene mucho tráfico, no he hecho las dos vueltas por las calles de la ciudad y terminé con 131.04 km y un tiempo de 5:15:11.
