Cycling is Life

Today started very well in Jaén with a few climbs to arrive in Martos only to find that bicycles were prohibioted from entering the autovia at that point (for those who don't know an autovia is a two lane divided highway), which sometimes, but not always is the case. If anyone knows why, please tell me. So I needed to be taken by car to the next highway, approximately 21 kms, therefore the stage was shortened a bit. From that point this stage is quite fast until you reach Cordoba, where naturally it slows down for traffic and traffic lights. After you leave the city and start the climb to Alto de San Jeronimo there is little traffic and it is a very pretty, winding climb with some rollers near the top. The descent into Cordoba again is very fast with about 5 kms of 6% grade. I finished the day with 153.99 kms in 5:56:52. Tomorrow is 220 kms to Almendralejo.

Hoy ha empezado muy bien en Jaen con unas pocas subidas para llegar a Martos para encontrar que las bicicletas estan prohibidas en la autovia a partir de ese punto, lo cual ocurre a veces pero no siempre. Si alguien sabe porque que me lo diga. Así que necesité que me llevaran en coche hasta la siguiente carretera, aproximadamente 21 km, por lo que la etapa se ha acortado un poco. Desde este punto la etapa es bastante rápida hasta llegar a Córdoba, donde logicamente se enlentece un poco por el tráfico y los semaforos. Después se sale de la ciudad y se comienza a subir a Alto de San Jerónimo, hay poco tráfico y es muy bonito, sinuoso con algunos repechos cerca de la cima. El descenso a Córdoba es muy rápido, 5 km con 6% de pendiente. He terminado el día con 153.99 km en 5:56:52. Mañana 220 km a Almendralejo.
