Arrebatacapas and El Mediano

Today's ride started in San Martin de Valdeiglesias and headed for Cebreros to ride a circle route which included climbing Arrebatacapas and later El Mediano. This was the first real winter ride of the year, as the first hour it was raining and windy, followed by wind for the rest of the ride as well as heavy fog (see photo) upon reaching the top of El Mediano until arriving in Navalperal de Pinares. The climb to Arrebatacapas is deceiving because you climb out of Cebreros and find a sign which tells you that you have arrived at the summit (see photo), later you descend for about 3/4 of a kilometer only to find that there is almost 5 more kilometers to climb. You have to enter into El Herradon to find the agricultural road which goes between El Herradon and La Cañada, where you will find the climb to El Mediano. This is definitely the more difficult of the two climbs although it is only 4 kilometers of climbing, it is quite steep and was complicated this morning by a strong opposing wind. After reaching the summit you arrive in La Cañada where you make the turn towards Navalperal de Pinares and later back to Cebreros. This part of the ride is quite fast with rolling hills and a lot of descending. When you reach Cebreros, the route going back to San Martin de Valdeiglesias is the same as the start with rolling hills and this morning the wind. The total ride was 95.5 kilometers in 4:06:51.

La ruta de hoy comenzó en san Martin de Valdeiglesias y siguió dirección Cebreros para hacer un camino circular que incluye la subida a Arrebatacapas y después El Mediano. Ha sido el primer día de verdadero invierno que he montado en bicicleta este año, ya que la primera hora ha estado lloviendo y con viento y después ha seguido con viento el resto del camino, además de una espesa niebla (ver foto) cuando llegas a la cumbre de El Mediano hasta llegar a Navalperal de Pinares. La subida a Arrebatacapas es engañosa porque subes saliendo de Cebreros y encuentras una señal que dice que has llegado a la cima (ver foto), después desciendes 3/4 de un kilómetro y te encuentras con casi 5 kilómetros mas de subida. Tienes que entrar en El Herradón para encontrar el camino agrícola entre El Herradón y La Cañada, donde encontrarás la subida a El Mediano. Esta es definitivamente la mas difícil de las dos subidas, aunque solo son 4 kilómetros tiene mucha pendiente y esta mañana estaba mas complicado por el fuerte viento en contra. Después de alcanzar la cumbre, se pasa por La Cañada donde se gira dirección Navalperal de Pinares y luego se vuelve a Cebreros. Esta parte de la ruta es bastante rápida, con repechos y mucha bajada. Cuando llegas a Cebreros, el camino que vuelve a San Martin de ValdeIglesias es el mismo que el del inicio con repechos y hoy con viento. La ruta han sido 95.5 km en 4:06:51.
